Nick Kyrgios is set to make a return to tennis soon, having endured a tricky time with injury in recent years.

Kyrgios could have a big 2026 season, but first he has an intriguing battle to come with WTA star Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka and Kyrgios will play a Battle of the Sexes match next month, with the former heading into the clash as world number one.

The latter was once ranked 13th on the ATP Tour, but he has slipped all the way down to 659th place in the world rankings.

His lack of action has, however, played a key role in that scenario, with Kyrgios playing just five singles matches all season.

It remains to be seen if the charismatic Australian can ever get back to his best, which arguably came at Wimbledon in 2022.

He made it all the way to the final at the All England Club, and even took the first set against Novak Djokovic before losing 6–4, 3–6, 4–6, 6–7(3–7).

Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?

But he clearly has great memories of the event itself given his answer when asked by the UTS Tour for the last tournament he would like to play.

Kyrgios replied: “The last tournament I would like to play would probably be Wimbledon. For me it’s the most special tournament in the world, so yeah Wimbledon.”

What is Nick Kyrgios’ history at Wimbledon?

Also taking on the intriguing question were Kyrgios’ fellow UTS Tour players Adrian Mannarino and Francisco Cerundolo.

Mannarino said: “It would be Paris, it was the best feeling I felt on court,” while Cerundolo commented: “Buenos Aires. I’m really looking forward to playing at home.”

The Frenchman and Argentinian somewhat unsurprisingly named their home events, but that wasn’t the case for Kyrgios.

He has the Australian Open on home soil, but opted to pick the Grand Slam where he has enjoyed the most success.

Kyrgios has made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and the US Open, while he’s never made it beyond the third round of the French Open.

There is, however, Grand Slam doubles success on his honors list, having won the 2022 Australian Open title with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis.
