Nick Kyrgios recently returned to winning ways at the Miami Open as he continues his comeback from injury.

The 29-year-old had lost his first three singles matches in 2025, at the Brisbane International, Australian Open, and Indian Wells.

He finally got back in the win column in Miami, as Kyrgios beat Mackenzie McDonald, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, booking his spot in the second round.

It was there that his run came to an end as Kyrgios lost to Karen Khachanov in straight sets, 6-7, 0-6.

As fans wonder where they’ll see Kyrgios appear next, the Aussie has confirmed a return to doubles alongside a surprise partner later this year.

Nick Kyrgios confirms he’ll play doubles alongside hedge fund manager Bill Ackman in 2025

Kyrgios recently took to X to announce his return to doubles alongside a tennis novice in 2025.

“Bill Ackman and I have decided we will play doubles somewhere later in the year,” he said.

“See if we can win a round at the futures level.

“Any ideas where we should play?”

Bill Ackman is the CEO and portfolio manager at Pershing Square Capital Management, and recently shared the story of how his remarkable partnership with Kyrgios came to be.

“A fun story,” said Ackman.

“I reposted an incredible Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic doubles point, and Nick replied with an offer of a tennis lesson.

“I DM’d him taking him up on the offer and sent him some practice and doubles match videos.

“He then proposed that we are going to play a futures [tournament] together (and win).

“I signed on.

“I am going all-in on training beginning Monday when I am back from Spring Break.

“The bigger the crowd, the higher the probability we will win! We look forward to seeing you.”

Ackman has taken his training seriously, sharing videos of his backhand and forehand on X.

The American once played an exhibition doubles match against John McEnroe, stirring up controversy with a shot he played against the seven-time Major champion.

According to Dealbreaker, Ackman fired a shot to McEnroe’s body before returning to the baseline without apologizing.

Nick Kyrgios set for busiest doubles schedule since 2022

The Australian star has already competed in two doubles tournaments this year, in Brisbane and at the Australian Open.

Kyrgios and Djokovic thrilled fans in Brisbane as they won their opening match against Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies.

The pair lost their next match but could run it back later this year, as Kyrios accepted Djokovic’s invite to play together at the Belgrade Open in Serbia.

Having already played two doubles tournaments this year, and scheduling two more alongside Ackman and Djokovic, Kyrgios is set to play his busiest schedule in the discipline in three years.
