Mirra Andreeva tries to channel Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer each time she steps on court.
The Russian has been enjoying a stellar 2025 season and she is proving to be a handful for each of her opponents.
At just 17 years of age Mirra Andreeva already possesses the game and mindset needed to defeat the world’s best players.
She is also showing how consistent she can be as Andreeva is on a 10-match win streak, and she will aim to extend record by trying to reach the Indian Wells final.

Mirra Andreeva tries to adopt Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer mindset during her matches
Andreeva has won her last 10 matches, the long win streak of her career, and she lost just one set over the course of those matches.
She is now into the last four at Indian Wells for the first time after beating Elina Svitolina 7-5, 6-3, which came after Andreeva dispatched Elena Rybakina 6-1, 6-2.
Though the likes of the WTA Tour’s top two players in Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, and Australian Open Champion Madison Keys are still in the competition, Andreeva has a real shot at winning successive WTA 1000 titles.
One of the reasons for her success is her strong mindset and ability to reset after each point, something she tried to copy from two of the game’s all-time greats, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
“Of course I’m battling some nerves, it’s never easy,” Andreeva told Tennis Channel. “Today we had a lot of tight points and tight games and I just try to remember what Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal would do for example.
“I know that they’re great champions and I just try to act like a champion, even though I’m not a champion yet I just try to act like one. I just tried to go for my shots and forget the score, and on some of the points it helped me.”

Mirra Andreeva looks ahead to Indian wells semi-final against Iga Swiatek
Andreeva is set to face Swiatek for the second time in as many tournaments after beating her in Dubai.
Andreeva won 6-3, 6-3 in the Middle East, on the way to winning the title. But facing the Pole at Indian Wells will be an ever tougher proposition.
Swiatek is the two-time defending champion in California and is aiming to become the first woman to win the tournament three times.
Despite the challenge that lies ahead, Andreeva is ready to compete and will once again seek inspiration from Nadal and Federer.
“I know that she probably feels very very very comfortable playing on these courts,” Andreeva said. “I’m going to try my best and fight for every point because I kind of still have nothing to lose, and she does, as she has to defend the title.
“So I’m just going to go out there and enjoy, run like a rabbit and I’m gonna try to defend like Rafael Nadal and try and be as aggressive as Roger Federer. So we are going to see if I can combine all these things and it’s going to be an entertaining match for sure.”
