Mirra Andreeva has been busy since winning the French Open, but she has still found time to keep tabs on the return of Serena Williams.

Williams is playing doubles at Queen’s, where she has decided to partner with Victoria Mboko on her dramatic return to tennis.

And the pair have made a successful start to the tournament, where the WTA legend is making her first appearance in almost four years.

Williams is focusing solely on doubles at Queen’s, but Andreeva is unsurprisingly looking forward to a possible singles meeting with the 44-year-old.

Mirra Andreeva would love to play ‘legend’ Serena Williams

Speaking about a potential match with the 23-time Grand Slam winner, Andreeva told CNN: “I mean that would be amazing of course to play against such a champion, such a legend.

“So many things that she’s done for the sport, and so many tournaments that she’s won, it’s unbelievable.

“Just thinking that if there is a small chance if she’s coming back to play singles, and if there is like a small chance that I might be playing against her, that would be amazing, that would be also maybe one of the highlights of my career.

“But we will see if that happens when it happens. If I get a chance to play against her, I would be just very, very excited.”

Such excitement from Andreeva is more than understandable, with Williams considered one of the all-time greats of tennis, and indeed sport in general.

Mirra Andreeva shares her grass season mindset after winning the French Open

For now, however, Andreeva is not in action as she recovers from a hugely successful run at the French Open.

The 19-year-old claimed her maiden Grand Slam title in Paris, but will soon turn her focus to the grass-court swing.

Sharing her approach to the next stage of the season, she said: “I’m trying not to put any expectations on myself.

“I’m trying not to think so far ahead, and I will just try to have the same mindset as I had coming into the French Open.

“My goal was just to try and show a great level of tennis every match that I played, fight and play my best every point in every match that I get to play on those courts, and I think that that’s the mindset that I’m going to try to have when I’m going to play in London.

“And I think that with that kind of mindset good things could come, but at the same time I don’t want to set any expectations or any pressure on myself.”

It is a mindset that is working very well right now for the Russian, who has climbed to sixth in the WTA rankings after her first major title.

She also boasts six WTA titles in her stunning career so far, three of which have arrived in the 2026 season.
