Mirra Andreeva made history by reaching the semi-finals of Roland Garros for the first time in her career.
At just 17 years of age in what is only her fifth appearance at a major, the Russian secured the biggest win of her career so far against Aryna Sabalenka.
She rallied from a set down to defeat the Australian Open champion 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 and end her unbeaten record at majors in 2024.
The teenager will face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the last four, after the 12th seed stunned Elena Rybakina to achieve her best result at a Slam.
Mirra Andreeva achieves 27-year first after reaching the French Open semi-finals
In Wednesday’s quarter-final Andreeva narrowly lost the first set which Sabalenka took on a tiebreak by seven points to five.
But despite falling behind, the World number 38 battled back and expertly turned the match around against an opponent struggling with illness.
She managed to secure a break of serve at 5-4 in both sets to clinch a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 victory in two and half hours.
The win means Andreeva is now the youngest player to reach a Grand Slam semi-final since Martina Hingis advanced to the last four in Paris back in 1997, when she was just 16.
She is also the third player in the open era to reach her first tour-level semi final at Roland Garros since Clarisa Fernandez in 2002 and Nadia Podoroska in 2020.

How did Mirra Andreeva reach the French Open semi-finals?
After successive runs to the quarter-finals at the Open de Rouen and in Madrid, Andreeva entered the French Open on the back of some promising results on the clay.
She began her campaign in Paris by defeating America’s Emina Bektas, before she contested her first match against two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka.
In a match that finished in the early hours, the teenager stunned the former World number one 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, which gave her plenty of confidence moving forward.
Straight sets wins over Peyton Stearns and Varvara Gracheva followed, before taking on Sabalenka on court Philippe-Chatrier.
This win marked the first time she has beaten a player ranked inside the top five and has now defeated three top ten players in her career.
