After Novak Djokovic’s Olympic victory and him showing the ability to still contend for Grand Slams it remains to be seen how he will continue to play.
Now aged 37 with nearly two decades of experience under his belt, what Djokovic is still able to achieve on the ATP Tour is nothing short of spectacular.
Furthermore, the Serbian is still ranked number two and he still has a chance of regaining the number one ranking.
Djokovic is now in New York preparing for the US Open where he will aim to win his fifth title at Flushing Meadows and 25th Grand Slam overall.
But along with the 24-time major winner two young stars have emerged in Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have positioned themselves as the two faces of tennis’ next generation.

Many have discussed how long they expect Novak Djokovic to continue playing given everything he has accomplished in tennis.
But while still being healthy enough and playing at a high level, Djokovic is showing no signs of stopping and plans to keep competing with the likes of Alcaraz and Sinner.
Both players have shown they have what it takes to beat Djokovic at the top level, and this excites former player Michael Chang, who thinks tennis is in very good hands.
“I’m not sure Novak’s going to stop yet, actually. Actually I don’t think he’s going to ever stop. What he’s done is just absolutely incredible,” the 1989 French Open champion told the AO Show’s The Sit-Down podcast.
“We’ve had this generation of players; Roger, Rafa is winding his career down, Andy just retired, Serena retired not that long ago. I mean, you’ve got these incredible players. And thankfully, we’ve got great young talent that are able to take their place, and they’re doing a great job.
“I mean, how can you not enjoy watching Alcaraz out there? He’s winning, but he’s smiling at the same time. Jannik Sinner is just an incredible talent, very humble, and has got all the different kinds of shots. So how do you not enjoy watching this new generation kind of grow and mature and really start to take their place?”

Djokovic has contested some thrilling matchups against his new ATP rivals in Alcaraz and Sinner.
He has played the Italian on seven occasions and has won four times, but Sinner has claimed three of their last four meetings, including the 2023 Davis Cup and 2024 Australian Open semi-final.
Djokovic has also won four of his seven encounters against Alcaraz. After suffering a comprehensive defeat in the Wimbledon final this past July, Djokovic said Alcaraz and Sinner have been the “best this year by far” and felt like he was “not at that level.”
He certainly worked hard to get there as Djokovic produced his best performance of the season to defeat Alcaraz in their last meeting to become Olympic champion for the first time.
