Carlos Alcaraz is now a six-time Grand Slam champion after defeating Jannik Sinner in the US Open final.
The Spaniard delivered an incredible performance at Arthur Ashe Stadium to clinch the victory in four sets against the Italian, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Alcaraz has reclaimed his spot as world number one, ending Sinner’s reign at the top of the ATP rankings, which lasted over a year.
The 22-year-old was simply unplayable against his rival, who he has now beaten for the 10th time at tour-level events.

Giving her analysis on ESPN, former world number four Mary Joe Fernandez said Alcaraz: “I think that’s one of the things that separates him from Sinner when he’s playing this well, because he does have the big powerful shots and he can match Sinner shot for shot.
“But then he adds the delicate slice. He adds the drop shot. He serve and volleyed a few times. So he really mixed it up.
“I even thought that he mixed up hitting the high loopy shot a few times, but he was so focused and so disciplined.
“There were moments in that match where I was thinking he’s playing so well, he’s going to now try to go for even bigger shots or impress the crowd even more. And he didn’t.
“He, like, reserved himself, and he said, ‘No, I’m gonna stay to the bases, I’m gonna keep returning cross court, I’m gonna keep looking to run around.’ I thought it was a very disciplined match from start to finish.”

In the Open Era, only Bjorn Borg has won more men’s Grand Slam titles before turning 23 than Alcaraz.
He has matched his legendary compatriot, Rafael Nadal, and has surpassed Pete Sampras.
With his birthday falling just before next season’s Roland Garros, he can only equal Borg’s record.
It is an astonishing accomplishment from Alcaraz, who has already cemented legend status in tennis at such a young age.
