Martina Navratilova assessed how she thinks Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula will perform at the Miami Open.
The fourth WTA 1000 event of the tournament is upon us and it is a very quick turnaround from the Indian Wells Masters, which concluded on Sunday.
Fans will flock to Florida’s Hard Rock Stadium to watch the action unfold, including 18-time Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova.
The 68-year-old lives in Miami and she is looking forward to seeing who will lift the title at the end of the week.

Martina Navratilova says how she thinks Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula will play at the Miami Open?
Following an Indian Wells tournament won by teenager Mirra Andreeva, attention turns to Florida for the Miami Open.
Danielle Collins stormed to the Miami title a year ago, but there are plenty of other players in contention for the title in 2025, including America’s top two players Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula.
Pegula is searching for her second title of the year after claiming the ATX Ope trophy, while Gauff is hunting for her first title since January’s United Cup win with Team USA.
Ahead of the tournament, Martina Navratilova assessed the duo’s chance of success in Miami, and warned Pegula to raise her game against the best players.
“Miami will be a fresh test, faster courts, different conditions and a quick turnaround,” Navratilova told the WTA website. “How she and others respond — physically, emotionally, and tactically — will be a key storyline to watch.
“Expect Swiatek and Gauff to be in the mix as they adjust to the change in pace. Pegula needs to raise her level against top-tier competition.
“The conditions in Miami suit her game better, so this could be a great chance for her to reset and make another deep run. Ultimately, it will come down to who is feeling the freshest and most comfortable on these courts.”

Who will Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula begin the Miami Open against?
Gauff is seeded number three at the Miami Open, while Pegula is the number four seed.
The 2023 US Open champion, who lives in Florida, is set to commence her campaign against one of two former Grand Slam champions, Petra Kvitova or Sofia Kenin.
Gauff has played Kvitova just once and claimed the win at the 2023 Qatar Open, while she has won two of her four matches against Kenin.
Pegula on the other hand, is set to face either qualifier Bernarda Pera or Australia’s Alja Tomljanović, Pegula defeated in the ATX Open semi-finals on March 1.
