With the French Open just around the corner now, there is a whole host of Americans who will fancy their chances of going all the way in Paris.

Especially after the Roland Garros draw was announced earlier today, offering favourable runs for some, and crushingly harsh ones for others.

The latter certainly applies to Danielle Collins, who will still remain confident given the form she has been enjoying this year.

In her final season on tour, the 30-year-old is thriving, having already won two WTA titles and counting. The sky really is the limit for this in-form star, who has just earned a glowing seal of approval now from Martina Navratilova.

Speaking to Tennis.com, the former world number one, who amassed an outstanding 18 Grand Slam titles across her illustrious career, was supremely complimentary of Collins.

During her prime, the 67-year-old was simply an unstoppable force, and there were few on the planet who came close to her.

So, for her to suggest that the current women’s number 12 was a player that she would currently not want to face, marks a glowing indication of just how well Collins is playing.

Navratilova simply claimed: ‘She would be my pick for a sneaky semi-final or final. I know I wouldn’t want her in my draw.’

If she needed any more incentive and encouragement to back herself at this iteration at Roland Garros, this is certainly it.

However, it will not be easy for Collins if she is to make her way to the final in Paris, given how many exceptional tennis players she will have to face just to reach that stage.

Naturally, the biggest blockade of them all resides in her side of the draw, with the unstoppable Iga Swiatek seeking to add to her three French Open successes.

Already the Polish powerhouse has won four titles this year, and is looking as strong as she ever has done on clay. Even Aryna Sabalenka has not been able to figure out how to stop the world number one.

But should Collins make her way to the quarter-final, which is the earliest the two could meet, then perhaps her form might carry her through.

Other notable names in her half of the draw include Ons Jabeur, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Market Vondrousova, the latter of which she may well face on her way to Swiatek.
