Marketa Vondrousova clinched her first title in nearly two years at the Berlin Open, after defeating Wang Xinyu to hold the trophy aloft in the German capital.

In her first final appearance since the Wimbledon championships in 2023, the Czech star overcame Wang over three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2.

Vondrousova defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final, earning her biggest win of the season by ranking, and now looks to be back to her best after triumphing at the WTA 500 event.

In her victory, the 25-year-old, who has struggled with a shoulder injury in recent years, has become the first to achieve an incredible feat.

The statistic Marketa Vondrousova stands alone in after her win in Berlin

After winning the Berlin Open, Vondrousova has become the first and only woman this decade to win Wimbledon and another grass-court event.

She won the title at the All England Club in 2023, clinching a maiden Grand Slam title after defeating Ons Jabeur in the final.

After being sidelined with injuries for most of the last year, she finally secured her second grass-court trophy.

Vondrousova now has three titles to her name, having also won a hard-court tournament in Biel, Switzerland, aged just 17.

Marketa Vondrousova’s route to the 2023 Wimbledon title

After failing to make it past the second round in her four previous attempts, Vondrousova had an incredible run at Wimbledon in 2023.

She earned three consecutive straight-set victories in the opening rounds of the tournament against Peyton Stearns, Veronika Kudermetova, and Donna Vekic.

Vondrousova then defeated compatriot Marie Bouzkova before knocking out Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-final, she beat former world number three Elina Svitolina to set up a championship match with two-time finalist Jabeur.

Winning 6-4, 6-4 in the final, Vondrousova became the first unseeded player to win the Wimbledon singles title.
