Mark Petchey believes that Emma Raducanu is about to prove a lot of people wrong in 2024 as she bids to get back to her best form.
The pundit took to X after Raducanu thrashed Marie Bouzkova at the Abu Dhabi Open.
So, what has Petchey actually said about Raducanu? Let’s take a closer look…
What Mark Petchey has said about Emma Raducanu
Well, it would appear as though Petchey doesn’t agree with some of the critique that has been thrown in the direction of Raducanu in recent times.
Since lifting the US Open title in 2021, the Great Britain star has endured rotten luck with injuries; requiring several surgeries.
Her performance against Bouzkova at the Abu Dhabi Open was relentless and she ran out a 6-4, 6-1 winner.
Petchey took to X after the match and he believes that the talented 21-year-old is now on the right track, posting:
Raducanu will be desperate for deep Grand Slam run
The youngster endured a pretty average time of things at the Australian Open, losing in the second round to Chinese player Wang Yafan.
Raducanu did manage to come through a first-round match with Shelby Rogers emphatically but fatigue set in for round two.

It’s perhaps telling that she entered the Abu Dhabi Open. Clearly, match practice is something that she views as vital at this stage as Raducanu works towards her best.
Petchey is right to defend her, in our view. Critics often forget that she’s achieved so much at such a young age and Raducanu will definitely come good again in the near future.
Next up for the talent is a tough assignment against number two seed Ons Jabeur. It will be fascinating to see how that goes, with Raducanu working to get up to full fitness.
