Maja Chwalinska will look to continue her dream season at Wimbledon, having received a wildcard for the tournament.

Chwalinska is the only non-British player to receive a women’s singles wildcard for Wimbledon, which starts later this month.

The decision comes shortly after the Pole reached the final of the French Open, which she lost to Mirra Andreeva.

Iga Swiatek loved Chwalinska’s French Open run, with the 24-year-old having entered the clay-court event as a qualifier.

But the WTA ace will soon turn her focus to the All England Club in London, where Chwalinska is set to make tennis history.

Maja Chwalinska set for tennis history after Wimbledon wildcard

Remarkably, Chwalinska will become the first wildcard to be seeded in the entire history of Wimbledon.

Moreover, she will also be the first in the Open Era at any Grand Slam.

It is a truly unique situation for the Pole, who absolutely deserves her wildcard following her stunning run in Paris.

Having been ranked 114th in the world at the time of the Wimbledon entry lists, she would have needed to once again make it through qualifying to reach the main draw.

But the wildcard now means that qualifying is unnecessary.

Notably, Chwalinska has since soared the WTA rankings following the French Open, rising 93 places to 21st.

In her only previous appearance at Wimbledon, she was beaten 6-3, 1-6, 0-6 in the second round by Alison Riske-Amritraj.

How will Maja Chwalinska cope with Wimbledon pressure?

It’s a superb story for Chwalinska, who may just feel some more pressure on her shoulders given her status at Wimbledon.

She clearly played with freedom as a qualifier at the French Open, but that run will place her under the spotlight at the All England Club.

But the 24-year-old has proven she has what it takes to compete on the biggest stage, with only eighth seed Andreeva able to defeat her in Paris.

How many Grand Slams titles does Mirra Andreeva have at the same age Aryna Sabalenka is now (28)?

She will, however, come under further examination given that every other women’s singles wildcard has been awarded to British players.

However, one space does remain in the initial Wimbledon wildcards, and it may just be taken up by legendary figure Serena Williams.

If that is the case, quite simply, all of the attention would quickly switch to the 23-time Grand Slam champion, which could work in the favor of Chwalinska.
