Many questioned whether he would be fit in time to return at Indian Wells.

Those questions have now been answered…

Lorenzo Musetti will play Indian Wells

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Musetti will make his return to tennis in California.

The Italian has passed tests and is fit to compete at Indian Wells.

He’ll travel to the United States over the weekend as he prepares to play his first match since the Australian Open quarterfinals.

Fans of Musetti will be looking forward to his comeback, especially after watching footage he released on Instagram.

Training at an indoor facility, Musetti was seen hitting forehands with pinpoint accuracy.

The world number five was moving well, having recovered from his injury.

Musetti captioned the post with the following message.

“After weeks of recovery, hard work, and a lot of patience – I’m finally back on court,” he said.

Is it Alexander Zverev, Marcelo Rios, Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer or maybe even someone else?

“Really looking forward to compete again and to feel your support.

“#Back in action. Recovery. Never give up. Coming soon.”

Musetti is certainly feeling positive, but how far can he go in America?

What can we expect from Lorenzo Musetti at Indian Wells and the Miami Open?

The 23-year-old will want to mark his return to action with a deep run at Indian Wells.

But looking at his past results at the event, that doesn’t seem too likely.

Lorenzo Musetti’s record at Indian Wells (3-5)

Musetti has only won three matches at Indian Wells and has never recorded consecutive wins at the tournament.

He’s going to need to find another level in 2026 if he wants any chance of progressing to the latter stages.

His record in Indian Wells leaves a lot to be desired, but has he fared any better at the Miami Open?

The answer is yes, but not by much.

Musetti has a winning record in Miami (6-5), although he has yet to reach the quarterfinals.

If he can do so for the first time in 2026, he’d stand a good chance of reaching a new career-high ranking.

Musetti has never been ranked fourth in the world, and currently trails Alexander Zverev by just 150 points.
