Great Britain tennis star Jack Draper continued his winning return from injury and was showered with deserved praise afterwards.

Facing the top seed Tommy Paul in the Adelaide International, the 22-year-old wasted no time in dispatching the American (6-1, 6-4), much to the delight of the Sky Sports commentator.

So, what did the pundit in question think of Draper in what was just his third match in 2024? We’ve taken a closer look following his emphatic quarter-final success…

What did Sky Sports’ commentary team say about Jack Draper after win?

It had been a tough 2023 for Draper, who endured a year laden with injury after breaking through in 2022.

However, it did play host to his greatest-ever run in a grand slam, reaching the fourth round of the US Open.

Keeping a clean bill of health, he will want to hopefully better that stage, starting next week at the Australian Open.

Well, he is certainly going about achieving that goal the right way, with Sky Sports’ commentator predicting big things for the young star.

He would claim: ‘Sublime performance from the world number 62. Tommy Paul wasn’t at his best in the first set, but this guy is looking sensational already in 2024. He takes down the top six, 6-1 6-4 to reach a fourth ATP semi-final of his young career.’

Jack Draper will be wanting to go deep in the Australian Open

As aforementioned, the first grand slam of the new season is slowly closing in, and with it a whole host of dreamers who believe they can be the one to go deep.

Well, given Draper’s impressive start to 2024, his form, physique and phenomenal forehand could prove pivotal in achieving such a goal.

Especially given, should he ease past his first-round opponent Marcos Giron, he is actually set to meet Paul again in the second round.

Draper arguably headlines the best chance Great Britain has of a deep run, as the youngest of the four most notable men in the competition.

With Dan Evans still worrying about his injury, Andy Murray unsure of one element of his game, and Cameron Norrie now a doubt, it seems hopes might actually rest on the world number 62.

Having yet to actually claim a single ATP Title, 2024 promises to be a year of progression for Draper. Should he stay fit, there is every chance that he could expel his 0 and charge into 2025 as a well-respected and high-ranked star.

The Australian Open marks his first chance to stake that claim.
