Although it was not the US Open campaign that he would have dreamed of, having now gone throughout 2024 trophyless, Novak Djokovic will still count this year as a roaring success.
After all, his entire schedule was built around the Paris Olympics, and that laser focus paid dividends when he claimed gold.
Following that, everything else was inconsequential, with his trophy cabinet officially completed.
But that’s not to suggest that he is finished in tennis. In fact, a new target has since emerged that would see him stand above all else as the greatest of all time.
Lindsay Davenport makes Novak Djokovic prediction
Speaking to Sport Klub, the former world number one admitted to being shocked by his early exit from the US Open.
Alas, she remains completely confident in his ability to turn things around, and would make the following prediction about his 2025.

She stated: ‘Of course I’m surprised he lost so early, but in a weird way, I’m happy for him. After all he’s done, it hasn’t been easy for him to play another major tournament since mid-May,” said the American.
‘I really want him to rest well, to play whatever and however he wants until the end of the season. We keep forgetting that Novak is 37 years old, that he has been on tour for 20 years.
‘He knows and feels it best. He needs time to enjoy, celebrate and then get ready for Australia. I believe that next year he can take two or three Grand Slams.’
When is Novak Djokovic’s next match?
Having already played a heavily reduced schedule throughout the year, the rest of 2024 is expected to follow the same trend.
After all, if the 37-year-old does have ambitions of challenging for the elite titles next year, he will have to ensure that he takes perfect care of his body to avoid any injuries.

With that in mind, it’s Davis Cup duties up next for Novak Djokovic, as his Serbia side are set to take on Greece in his home of Belgrade.
He has already showcased his immense patriotism over the summer at the Olympics, and will likely relish the chance to represent his country once again.
Then will come Shanghai, returning to the Masters 1000 event for the first time since 2019.
