Lindsay Davenport enjoyed a fine career in tennis, having retired with three singles Grand Slam titles to her name.
As such, she is well-placed to comment on the modern-day apex of the sport, having lived at its pinnacle for so long during her own illustrious playing days.
However, it is not all sunshine and rainbows when entering into punditry, with plenty of controversies to comment on as well as successes.
Particularly with Jannik Sinner, she has not held back in her assessment of the current situation, continuing to condemn him and the various bodies who allowed him to continue playing under a cloud.
Lindsay Davenport left stunned by Jannik Sinner treatment
Speaking to Sport Klub, the American, who was once ranked as the best women’s player in the world, was left stunned by the treatment of the US Open champion after Sinner tested positive for the steroid Clostebol.
After all, although he was cleared of any wrongdoing, Davenport remained one of many high-profile sceptics.
She would claim: ‘I am honestly shocked. Like most. It seems that we are only now finding out what is happening behind the scenes.

‘I don’t know how he is allowed to play all year. It’s not fair to other players, it’s obvious that not everyone is treated the same. Especially to those who are ranked lower.
‘Money seems to be decisive here, because there are greater opportunities to pay lawyers and everything that is needed. The Italian had to bear the consequences.’
Jannik Sinner continues to profess his innocence after drugs case
Having since won the US Open, it’s no surprise that controversy and criticism surrounding Sinner has only intensified.
After all, heading into the event, there were some pundits who pulled no punches.
Nick Kyrgios was particularly critical of Sinner’s case, continuing to poke the Italian throughout his run to the title.

It will have pained plenty to see such an outcome.
But, as his coach Darren Cahill professed, the world number one did nothing wrong: ‘Whatever happens, he’s got to keep his head up because he hasn’t done anything wrong, and we’ll see what we can do.’
Regardless of people’s stances on the matter, he is the undisputed US Open champion.
