VAR is slowly being brought into the biggest tennis tournaments, but it appears to be dividing opinion between the likes of Leylah Fernandez and Danielle Collins.
The US Open were the first Grand Slam tournament to implement video review in 2023, with the Australian Open following suit this year.
Despite this, there was some controversy between Iga Swiatek and Emma Navarro after the video review system was unable to be used.
This is not the only time that the technology has caused debates, with tennis fans enraged by a US Open incident that took place last year.
One of the latest players to comment on the technology is Danielle Collins, who is regularly outspoken in her opinions.

Leylah Fernandez and Danielle Collins disagree over whether VAR is good for tennis
As well as the introduction of video review to two of the four major tournaments, video review will also be in play at at all of the Masters 1000 events in 2025.
This includes Indian Wells, that has already seen changes at the tournament this year that have divided opinion.
In a game of hot or not for the Tennis Channel, numerous players including Collins and Fernandez had their say on the introduction of video reviews in tennis.
World number 14 Collins was emphatically in favour of the decision to have the technology in the sport and responded with ‘hot’.
While, former 2021 US Open finalist Fernandez was less keen on the idea, and elaborated on why she was not a fan of VAR.
“I’m going to say not,” said Fernandez. “Sometimes the VAR ruins the moment for me, kind of changes the momentum, so I don’t know if I want that in tennis. But, we never know, we’ll have to see that to see in the future.”
What do Naomi Osaka and Grigor Dimitrov think about VAR?
Collins was in the majority in this debate, as most of the players were in favor of introducing video review to tennis.
This includes former Roland Garros winner Jelena Ostapenko, who said, “I think it’s hot. Many sports have already been using it for a bit of time, so I think it is great.”
Some of the other players to agree include Naomi Osaka, Ons Jabeur, Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa and Alex Michelsen.
Out of the players questioned, Fernandez only had one person agreeing with her in Grigor Dimitrov.
Despite their pleas against the introduction of technology, it appears that VAR is here to stay, and it is being used at both Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
