Learner Tien has become the latest champion of the Next Gen ATP Finals after his commanding win over Alexander Blockx.
Tien, who lost in the final of last year’s Next Gen ATP Finals to Joao Fonseca, defeated Blockx 4-3(4), 4-2, 4-1.
The 20-year-old American, who was the top seed at the event in Jeddah, won the match in just 59 minutes.
Tien has now followed in the footsteps of the tournament’s former champions, which include Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Sinner lifted the trophy in 2019 and Alcaraz did the same two years later, with Stefanos Tsitsipas representing another former champion.
Sharing his take on joining the exclusive group, Tien said: “It’s very cool to be adding my name to the list of previous winners.
“I think every player who has won this tournament has gone on to do very well, so it means a lot to be up there with those names.
“I’ve been waiting a year to hold this trophy… It feels great, especially after coming so close last year.”

Tien also shared his verdict on his latest season in tennis, which has, of course, ended in fantastic success.
He said: “I’m super happy. I was able to check a lot of boxes that I wanted to this year. I had a pretty long list of goals I wanted to hit, and I was able to get most of them. I’m really happy.”
It’s certainly an exciting time for the American, who is currently in a career-high rank of 28 on the ATP Tour.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
Tien already boasts one career title from Metz, and finished his 2025 season with a win-loss record of 36-24.
A stunning fourth round run at the Australian Open was also secured, during which the qualifier knocked out fifth seed and 2024 runner-up Daniil Medvedev.
