Coco Gauff was able to get the better of Aryna Sabalenka when they played in the Roland Garros final.

Gauff has received support from far and wide following her second Grand Slam title victory.

This has not been so much the case for Sabalenka, who has received criticism for what she did after the final in Paris.

Sabalenka has released a subsequent statement following this backlash, as she now looks to move on from this disappointment.

Laura Robson states who’s more likely to win Wimbledon out of Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff

There is little time for both players to reflect on their Roland Garros final, with the grass court season already underway.

Both Sabalenka and Gauff are yet to win Wimbledon, and former junior champion Laura Robson has picked the player she thinks is more likely to win the title this year.

Robson has also suggested that she thinks Australian Open champion Madison Keys could be a contender for the Wimbledon title this year.

“I don’t know who is favourite in the women’s Wimbledon event,” Robson told Sky Sports. “I would probably say Sabalenka because she’s done well there in the past but for Coco it’s been a surface which hasn’t quite given her the results that the other Slams have.

“Even though Gauff has made the fourth round three times, there’s not been that standout result, I’d say, so I think that leaves it quite open for some new faces to come in.

“Our second seed here [Queen’s Club] this week is Maddie [Madison] Keys and I kind of think what would have happened last year had she not pulled up with an injury in the fourth round at Wimbledon so there’s definitely a chance for loads of different people.”

Who has performed better at Wimbledon out of Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff?

Sabalenka and Gauff have exactly the same win-loss record at Wimbledon, both winning 11 of their 16 previous matches at SW19.

It was the American who made her breakthrough at Wimbledon as a 15-year-old, with Gauff beating Venus Williams at the 2019 tournament.

However, she has been unable to better her result from that year and has lost in the fourth round on three occasions now.

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam where Sabalenka is yet to reach the final, and she had to miss the tournament last year due to a shoulder injury.

Both players are scheduled to begin their grass court season at the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin.

They will then head to Wimbledon, with the third major of the year getting underway on Monday, June 30.
