It has now been over a month since Juan Carlos Ferrero’s shocking split from Carlos Alcaraz, and still, many cannot believe it.
That is, despite both parties seemingly having moved on, with the player now into the Australian Open semi-finals and the coach having found a new role alongside a young golfer.
There seems to be no ill feeling between them, having spent so long together and built such a fruitful and trophy-laden partnership.
However, there have been rumours of late over whether Ferrero would consider coaching Jannik Sinner, who is set to lose Darren Cahill from his coaching box eventually.

He has since spoken about those rumours, whilst revealing the message he received from the Italian’s team immediately after news of his split with Carlos Alcaraz broke.
Juan Carlos Ferrero confirms if he’d ever coach Jannik Sinner
Speaking to Clay Tenis, as well as RG Media, he offered an in-depth interview detailing everything from Alcaraz to his new role.
Speaking about his Spanish protégé, and how it would feel if he ever faced him as an opponent, Ferrero admitted: “Yes, that moment will be difficult, complicated. But it will be a new beginning, to start normalising what the relationship is.
Why do you think Carlos Alcaraz has struggled at the Australian Open in the past?
“Maybe I see him in Madrid because I go to watch the tournament and I am not there (as a coach) with anyone, but normally I would have returned to the tour with someone and would already be seeing him differently, as a rival of the player I might be coaching.”
Then asked if he’d ever consider coaching Sinner, the question that many have wondered, he replied: “I meant that doors should not be closed with an absolute no, right? Just as I could return alongside Carlos at some point, who knows? Just as I could coach any other player on the tour, one of them could be Jannik (Sinner).
“I want to clarify that nobody from Jannik’s team has contacted me, although it is true that they sent me a message congratulating me on the work that had been done and saying they were very sorry. But nothing more, in the end nothing more.”
Interestingly, Sinner revealed how he reacted to Alcaraz’s split from Ferrero earlier this month.
Juan Carlos Ferrero’s new role in golf
Many pondered what was next for Ferrero, who immediately became one of the most sought-after coaches on the tennis market.
However, in a move that surprised everyone, he has pivoted sports.
How would you feel if Juan Carlos Ferrero returned to coach Carlos Alcaraz now?
The 45-year-old is now the coach of young Spanish golfing talent, Ángel Ayora.
Naturally, he will offer no technical advice, but has instead agreed to work in a mental capacity, given the many years he has spent as a player and coach at the top level of professional sport.
Speaking about his first days working in golf, Ferrero added: “Very much. I’m getting to know the players, learning how everything works, the rhythm of the tour, trying to understand how to fit in with Ángel’s team so I can help him unlock all the talent he has.”
