John McEnroe says Carlos Alcaraz has one trait which he really wishes he had during his career

Carlos Alcaraz is looking to defend his Wimbledon title and will face Tommy Paul for a place in the semi-final later today.

The Spanish sensation became the youngest man to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces when he won at Roland Garros last month.

To have three major titles ticked off at 21 is quite something and his stock continues to rise.

Alcaraz has come through relatively unscathed so far – although he did need to dig deep to beat Frances Tiafoe in five sets during his round three clash.

Now, ahead of his clash with Paul this afternoon, John McEnroe has shared what he thinks is the Spaniard’s best trait.

What John McEnroe has said about Carlos Alcaraz

It’s fair to say that Alcaraz is very much the man to beat right now – despite the fact that Jannik Sinner is the world number one.

Novak Djokovic can’t be ruled out of the race to win another Wimbledon crown either but Alcaraz just doesn’t know when he’s defeated.

Now, McEnroe has shared what he truly loves about the Spanish player’s game.

He told the 6-love-6 podcast: “Carlos is so expressive, he’s so positive, he’s just awesome. The positivity, I wish I could have had some of that when I played.

“To be so positive and be able to use that out on the court. I think it’s the best I’ve ever seen anyone remain so positive, I think he’s born with it but in some ways as well he must have worked on it. That’s his best quality.”

Alcaraz can break every record going

The talented player might already be eyeing up Novak Djokovic’s haul of major titles and if he stays fit and healthy he could eclipse him.

Alcaraz already has three major titles to his name and he remains firmly in the hunt for number four at this year’s Wimbledon.

It’s scary just how good he is at 21 and his ability to bounce back from any setback during a match really is admirable for such a young player.

McEnroe enjoyed a solid career himself. However, with a more positive outlook on the court, he might have claimed more titles – and he knows it!
