Carlos Alcaraz has enjoyed a superb start to his 2025 clay season, having triumphed at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Andy Roddick spotted a different intensity from Alcaraz in Monte Carlo, where he won his second title of the season.
Alcaraz beat Lorenzo Musetti in the Monte Carlo Masters final earlier this month, having previously lost his opening match at the Miami Open.
The Spanish star is now up to number two in the ATP Tour rankings, with Alcaraz taking his career earnings beyond $40million.
He is now looking for more success at the Barcelona Open, where the 21-year-old is already into the quarter-finals.

Jimmy Connors tells Carlos Alcaraz to ‘keep grinding’ after Monte Carlo win
And in the midst of his latest ATP event, the Spaniard has received advice from former world number one Jimmy Connors.
“Keep grinding,” the American said on the Advantage Connors podcast. “Because when you keep grinding the better player, not always but the majority of the time is going to come out on top, because he figures out a game to turn a game which is only 70 or 80% into a winner.
“That is the key. You can’t play 100% every time. Turning a game where you don’t feel right, or your game is not in order, or you are a little lethargic to still come out and win.
“That is what makes a great player in my opinion, but that is just my opinion. He has that ability. Especially on the clay.

“He is in a comfort zone now. Not that he isn’t on every other surface, because he has won other Grand Slams, but I think clay is a good comfort zone for him leading into the French, Wimbledon and the US Open.
“Once you hit the French you have three or four months of strenuous tennis at the majors and if you can get on a roll at that time, wow, that is great.”
What ATP titles has Carlos Alcaraz won after Monte Carlo Masters success?
Alcaraz boasts a stunning honours list at the age of just 21, having also reached number one in the world rankings.
His fellow superstar Jannik Sinner currently occupies that spot, with Alcaraz seemingly missing a fantastic opportunity to put real pressure on the Italian in that regard amid his suspension.
