Jimmy Connors gave the names of two players he believes can have a strong Paris Olympics campaign.

The American is looking forward to seeing the action unfold at Roland Garros, which will host the tennis event.

The players are going through their final phases of preparation before stepping on court to compete for a coveted Olympic medal.

This event has produced some surprise winners over the years but Connors believes two well-known players will be top contenders for the crown.

Who does Jimmy Connors think will succeed at the Paris Olympics?

For just the second time since tennis officially became part of the Olympics in 1988 during the open era, the event will be played on clay.

It will also take place at Roland Garros, the home of the French Open, where two players have enjoyed plenty of success.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Connors named Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek, who have 18 French Open titles between them, to do well at the Paris Olympic Games.

“Who feels comfortable there? There is this guy named Nadal, is he playing! Is Iga playing? You look at those who have had success, especially in that environment,” the eight-time Grand Slam champion said during an episode of his ‘Advantage Connors’ podcast.

“I know the Olympics is a different pressure but it’s like a major now.  The interesting thing is playing at Roland Garros and Paris, they are used to big events and to have the Olympics there and the excitement that that is going to bring is going to be really interesting to watch.”

Nadal’s French Open record is arguably the most impressive achievement in tennis history. He has claimed the title 14 times and registered 112 wins with just four defeats.

Only Novak Djokovic, Robin Soderling and Alexander Zverev have handed the Spaniard losses at the clay court Grand Slam.

Swiatek is compiling a dominant French Open record of her own, having won four of the last five editions of the tournament.

The Pole won the title for the third straight season when she defeated Jasmine Paolini for the loss of just three games and is a strong favourite to become the Olympic champion.
