Taylor Fritz has enjoyed a stellar season in 2024 qualifying for the ATP Finals semi-finals in Turin.

Fritz has started his ATP Finals campaign brilliantly and will be looking to reach the final of the event for the first time in his career this weekend.

The American began the week strongly, as Fritz beat Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, putting him in a great position to qualify for the last four.

Fritz then fell to defeat against home favorite Jannik Sinner in his second match, leaving him with work to do in his final group stage outing.

He came through a three-set battle, as Fritz beat debutant Alex de Minaur to qualify for the semi-finals of the ATP Finals for the second time in his career.

Fritz also reached the last four the last time he qualified for the event in 2022, eventually losing out to Novak Djokovic in two tiebreakers.

Ahead of the semi-finals, one tennis legend has been speaking about what Fritz can still improve on to further climb the rankings in 2025.

Jim Courier thinks Taylor Fritz needs to improve his drop shot in 2025

Speaking in his 2024 season review, former world number one Jim Courier gave his thoughts on whether Fritz has room to improve in 2025.

“I think so,” he said.

“I think the ability to transition to the net is something he can continue to work on and be more efficient at the net and read the play better.

“That is something which comes from time and practice, knowing where to be at the net is really important.

“It’s something which is like flying a plane, the more hours in the cock pit you get, the better you can deal with those situations.

“I think he can do better with that.”

Courier went on to say how far away Fritz is from reaching his potential.

“I think he is very close to capitalizing on all of his assets,” he said.

“The guy has improved his movements, he has gotten stronger, you don’t have to question his fitness.

“Now it’s about maintaining what you are doing well and [making] minor improvements.

“Make that drop shot a little more fluent, that is a shot which can be super effective for him, that isn’t natural but again practice, practice, practice, and suddenly that’s a language which you can speak.”

It’s tough to argue with Fritz’s success, and if things continue to go well in Turin, he could well add another big title to his resume.

Fritz will return to the court for his semi-final match on Saturday.
