Jessica Pegula will be doing double duty at the China Open this year.
Pegula will be the fifth seed in the singles draw of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, but she will also be competing in doubles.
The American does have pedigree in doubles, with Pegula winning alongside Taylor Townsend at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals last week.
Pegula also had a long-time partnership with Coco Gauff, which appeared to come to an end at the Paris Olympics.
However, it is actually another American player who Pegula will be competing alongside at the China Open.

Jessica Pegula confirmed to play doubles with Ashlyn Krueger at the China Open
The WTA doubles draw for the China Open has been released for this year, featuring some very eye-catching teams.
This includes the continued reunion of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, Su-wei Hsieh and Jelena Ostapenko, as well as the wildcard pairing of Karolina Muchova and Priscilla Hon.
One of the other noteworthy teams in the draw is Pegula playing with compatriot Ashlyn Krueger, the world number 45 singles player.
Krueger has been ranked as highly as world number 29 this year, and reached the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi, as well as beating top 10 player Elena Rybakina at the Miami Open.
Despite the 21-year-old clearly being talented, Krueger is already out of the China Open singles draw after losing a three-hour and 29-minute marathon match against Maria Sakkari in the first round.
Krueger will now have all of her attention on playing doubles with Pegula in Beijing, and it is not the first time that they have played together.
Jessica Pegula and Ashlyn Krueger’s previous results as a doubles team
The China Open will be the seventh WTA tournament where Pegula has played doubles alongside Krueger, and the sixth this year.
Despite Pegula being a former doubles world number one, she has not found much success playing alongside Krueger.
In their six previous tournaments, Pegula and Krueger have only won three of their eight matches, and they have never won more than one match at a tournament.
| WTA Tournament | Jessica Pegula and Ashlyn Krueger’s Doubles Result |
| Tokyo Open 2023 | First Round (0-1) |
| Adelaide International 2025 | Quarterfinal (1-0) |
| Qatar Open 2025 | First Round (0-1) |
| Indian Wells 2025 | First Round (0-1) |
| Miami Open 2025 | Second Round (1-1) |
| Berlin Open 2025 | Quarterfinal (1-1) |
Pegula and Krueger will be hoping to improve this statistic in Beijing, where they will play Yifan Xu and Zhaoxuan Yang in the first round.
Although Krueger is out of the singles draw, Pegula is still yet to play her first match after receiving a bye to the second round, where she will play three-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist Ajla Tomljanovic.
