Jessica Pegula engaged in a hilarious moment with an on court interviewer at the Charleston Open.
The American entered the WTA 500 event as the top seed and she has reached the round of 16 without dropping a set.
In what is a strong field in Charleston, Pegula is one of the favourites given her top seeding and she just reached the Miami Open final.
But her next opponent is none other than the defending champion Danielle Collins, who Pegula is worried might now be even more fired up before their match following a moment after her last match.

Jessica Pegula thinks Danielle Collins may be angry after Charleston Open on-court interview
Pegula took on Ajla Tomljanović for a place in the Charleston Open quarter-finals.
In their first meeting since the ATX Open in March, Pegula repeated the result from Texas and sealed a 6-3, 6-2 victory, and she will face Collins in Friday’s quarter-final.
Following the match Pegula was interviewed on court, and the interviewer said: “Next up is Danielle Collins. You’ve played her five times, I’m sure you know what the score is.
“It’s 5-0 everybody, for you. 5-0, that gives you a lot of confidence, as a matter of fact she’s only gotten one set off you in all of those five meetings.”
Pegula was astonished with his comments and claimed that Collins hearing that statistic may make her angry and even more determined to beat her for the first time.
“Why would you say that? I hope I win or it’s your fault,” Pegula said jokingly. “I’m sorry I’m being hard on you but seriously you can’t throw that out there.”
The interviewer responded: “Not to add any pressure. I’m doing this for confidence, I’m trying to get my foot out of my mouth so help me out.”
Referencing Collins’ fiery and intense persona on court, Pegula added: “Haven’t you seen Danielle? She’s feisty, now she’s going to be mad at you and she’s going to want to kill me.”

When did Jessica Pegula last play against Danielle Collins?
Pegula and Collins have faced one another since the opening round of the 2023 French Open.
On that day the World number four claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory and she went on to reach the third round.
Of their five meetings, Collins has only taken one set off Pegula, and that took place at the 2021 Canadian Open in Montreal, where Pegula claimed a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory.
This is the first time Collins will play Pegula with a seeding as high as seven, and after two morale-boosting wins in Charleston so far, it is set to be a gripping encounter between the two Americans.
