Jessica Pegula commented on the possibility of playing doubles with Coco Gauff again.

The American pair are both successful singles players and occupy two of the top four spots in the WTA rankings.

But they are also adept doubles players and as a team they were one of the best in the game.

However, since the 2024 Olympics, Pegula and Gauff have not played together and it remains to be seen if they will stand side by side on the court once again.

During Pegula and Gauff’s time as a team they won four titles, three of them WTA 1000 events, and reached the French Open final as well as two other WTA 1000 finals.

But the World number three and four have not played doubles together since the 2024 Paris Olympics, and they will not play doubles together in Stuttgart.

In fact, Pegula, who will play doubles with Desirae Krawczyk at the Stuttgart Open, is unsure when she will play doubles with Gauff again.

“Yeah, I mean, Coco and I played so much for a couple years there. We did great. A lot of really amazing results and memories,” Pegula said. “At the same time doing well in the singles court, we obviously didn’t want to play as much anymore.

“The schedule just gets really, really tough. I’ve barely played this year, probably won’t play any of the Grand Slams this year. This week I’m playing with Desirae Krawczyk, who is a really good friend of mine. Hopefully we can do well this week.”

Will Jessica Pegula play doubles at the Grand Slams?

Pegula thoroughly has won seven doubles titles during the course of her career.

However, she has yet to win a Grand Slam at doubles level. The closest she came was in 2022 alongside Gauff, when she reached the French Open final.

Given the hectic schedule and her desire to pursue singles success, Pegula is unsure if she will play doubles at the remainder of the Grand Slams in 2025.

“I don’t think I’m going to play any of the Grand Slams just because of the scheduling, it gets really hard,” she said.

“I always feel like at the end of the day I’m going to have to pull out or something like that. In Miami it was kind of unfortunate to play a long match, then have to play doubles.

“I wasn’t feeling physically fit and had to retire in that match. Yeah, I think the scheduling makes it hard, but I still love playing doubles when I can.”
