Jannik Sinner has made the decision to withdraw from the Monte Carlo Masters doubles draw with Zizou Bergs.
Sinner and Bergs are playing doubles for the first time together at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The scratch pairing made an impressive start after beating Casper Ruud and Tomas Machac in the first round.
However, their partnership was only short-lived, as Bergs’ father has now confirmed Sinner’s withdrawal in a social media post.

Jannik Sinner withdraws from Monte Carlo Masters doubles with Zizou Bergs
Sinner and Bergs were scheduled to play the eighth seeds Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi in their second round match.
That match will no longer be taking place, and Bergs’ father, Koen Bergs, has confirmed that this was Sinner’s decision.
Sinner can overtake Carlos Alcaraz as world number one in Monte Carlo, and there does not appear to be any resentment from the Bergs camp towards the Italian.
Koen Bergs wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), It is official now. No doubles R2 for Zizou and Jannik. Jannik withdraws from the doubles draw.
“Understandable since he can become N1 in this tournament. Nevertheless, great experience for Zizou which will never be forgotten.”
