Jannik Sinner’s fitness coach sends him a heartfelt message on social media after returning to his team this year

Jannik Sinner has finished his season in some style after winning the ATP Finals.

Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz to defend his ATP Finals title and extend his winning record on indoor hard courts to 31 matches.

This was the last match of the Italian’s season, after Sinner elected not to play the Davis Cup Finals this year.

Members of Sinner’s team have been reflecting on his 2025 season, and now his fitness coach has also sent him a message on social media.

Umberto Ferrara sends message to Jannik Sinner after ending 2025 season

The relationship between Sinner and his fitness coach Umberto Ferrara has been complicated ever since August 2024, when it was announced that he had failed two anti-doping tests after twice testing positive for having clostebol in his system.

Sinner has continually declared his innocence of any wrongdoing in this case, but due to their involvement in the way that clostebol entered his body he parted ways with both Ferrara and his former physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi.

Shortly after leaving Sinner’s team, Ferrara joined forces with another Italian in Matteo Berrettini, before separating from the former Wimbledon finalist after the Italian Open.

That was coincidentally the tournament where Sinner returned from his three month ban, and a big announcement about Ferrara was to be made just two months later.

After he won Wimbledon for the first time, Sinner announced that Ferrara would be re-joining his team, which divided opinion due to the reason that they had originally parted ways.

Ferrara has now been back on Sinner’s team for four months, and he has now posted a heartfelt message on social media reflecting on the 2025 season.

He wrote on Instagram, “I’ve been in sports for many years but I’ll never stop being amazed at how beautiful it is.

“Sport is commitment, dedication, sacrifice; it’s emotion, smiles, tears; it’s victory and defeat, joy and disappointment; it’s comparison with oneself and others; it’s a desire to improve, analytical skills, confidence in work; it’s suffering in the dark moments that leave you inside a pain that is hard to digest, but it is also believing in the possibility of getting up and starting again with enthusiasm.

“It’s hard to condense it all into one post. This season (opened with the collaboration with Matteo, who I thank from the bottom of my heart) leaves me with so many unforgettable moments, which I was lucky enough to share with a fantastic team. Thanks to all of them but, above all, thanks to Jannik for the trust and the beauty of this common path.”

Have Jannik Sinner’s results improved since Umberto Ferrara re-joined his team?

Sinner missed three months of the 2025 season due to the aforementioned ban that he had to endure, but it has still been very successful for the Italian.

When comparing his time with and without Ferrara, there is not a huge difference in terms of results, but Sinner is marginally improved in terms of win-loss percentage with the fitness trainer.

The world number two has particularly impressed in the latter stages of the 2025 season, with Sinner winning the China Open, Vienna Open, Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.

Sinner will now enter his off-season, where Ferrara will likely have a lot of work to do to prepare him to be in the best physical shape for the 2026 season.

Likely to be one of the big goals next year for Sinner will be to return to world number one, with Alcaraz well within his sights.
