Jannik Sinner is two wins away from completing an incredibly rare feat in tennis – the Sunshine Double.
Only seven men have ever won the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open back-to-back: Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Sinner, who clinched a maiden Indian Wells crown earlier this month, is now in the semifinals of the Miami Open, where he will face Alexander Zverev.

The Italian has yet to drop a set throughout either tournament and is the overwhelming favourite to go all the way.
Federer was the last player to achieve the Sunshine Double, doing so in the 2017 season.
Jannik Sinner discusses the difficulty of the Sunshine Double
In an interview with Tennis Channel, Sinner was asked if completing the Sunshine Double is harder than winning Wimbledon and Roland Garros in the same year.
He responded: “Grand Slams are always different. I feel like Grand Slams are best of five and also in an emotional part you feel it a bit more.
“But everything is very tough in our sport. Winning in every level. Even 250’s or 500’s are tough, tough tournaments to win, so every victory is great.

“As I said, I just go day by day, trying to understand what my level is and then we will see.”
Sinner was agonisingly close to winning both Roland Garros and Wimbledon last year, having squandered three match points in the Paris final against his rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner’s last match against Alexander Zverev
Sinner has a winning record against his next opponent at the Miami Open, Zverev, whom he has not lost to since 2023.
After Sinner won their first career clash at the 2020 French Open, Zverev secured the next four wins in the rivalry, the last of which came at the 2023 US Open.
Since then, however, Sinner has enjoyed a six-match winning streak against the German, with one of the victories captured in the 2025 Australian Open final.
Their last meeting was played out in the Indian Wells semifinals recently, which Sinner won comfortably in straight sets.
Zverev, seeded third at the Miami Open, is in search of his first Masters title since 2024.
