Jannik Sinner may have truly started to break through in 2023, but 2024 has been the first year where he properly dominated.
After all, no male or female has as many wins as him, and only Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka can match him for Grand Slam titles won too.
He deserves all the praise he is currently attaining, even if there is a dark cloud still looming over him following Sinner’s drugs case ahead of the US Open.
Having since pinned the bulk of the ordeal on his former physiotherapist Giacomo Nardi, with the player himself bearing ‘no fault or negligence’, it’s thought he might be able to move on free from criticism.
Hopefully, with a change in his coaching staff, this might actually be the case.
Jannik Sinner makes two changes to coaching team
There had been rumours that Jannik Sinner was changing his coaching team, but it was yet to be confirmed by the man himself.
However, the 23-year-old has since taken to Instagram to post a simple update for fans.
He would attach the following comment: ‘Welcome to the team Marco and Ulises.’
The first of the two sees a new fitness coach join them in Marco Panichi, whilst the need for a new physiotherapist was clear as soon as Nardi was dismissed.
So, Ulises Badio should fulfil that role well.
Both previously worked with Novak Djokovic, a temple of fitness in the tennis industry.
Jannik Sinner is becoming an unstoppable machine
Should Sinner gain the same level of unbelievable physicality that Djokovic managed under Badio and Panichi, it might actually be game over for the rest of the ATP tour.
After all, he’s already becoming a truly unstoppable machine when fit and playing in 2024, currently boasting a 55-5 record and having won two Grand Slam titles too.
Playing some sensational tennis, hitting the ball so cleanly and with immense precision, it’s a wonder how anyone competes with him, and you could argue that regularly only really Alcaraz can.
The main thing that has thwarted him throughout the year is his fitness.
Clearly ill at Wimbledon, and suffering from a hip injury ahead of Roland Garros, he was even forced to miss the Olympics as well due to tonsillitis.
Were he fitter and healthier, it’s scary to imagine how much more he might have won this year.
