Jannik Sinner is the man to beat on the ATP Tour currently, with the world number one unbeaten since February.

Sinner has emerged victorious in each of his last four tournament appearances, all of which have come at the ATP Masters 1000 level.

Can any of these four players stop Jannik Sinner winning the French Open this year?

Two of those titles were clinched at the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Madrid Open, which were the Italian’s first clay-court Masters crowns.

Prior to this year, Sinner had just one clay title to his name, which he captured in Umag during the 2022 season.

This season, however, the 24-year-old has made big improvements in his game on the surface.

Jannik Sinner discusses his clay-court game this year

Speaking to Super Tennis TV, Sinner said: “Every year when I played on clay, I felt a little better. Obviously, I’m getting stronger physically, and that’s the key to playing well on this surface.

“Last year, it was actually a really great year. I had more preparation time [due to the suspension] and immediately started back on clay, and we saw adjustments to make in my game.

“I also believe I’ve become a little more self-aware in the other sense. Every tournament has its own characteristics.

“If we look at Monte Carlo, it has always been quite a strange tournament. Because of that, we never had much time to adapt. Then Madrid is a tournament in itself because we are at a high altitude, and the ball goes really fast.

How long will Jannik Sinner stay as world number one?

“In Rome, the conditions are fairly slow, but it’s possible there will be some wind, making for a difficult playing situation.

“However, these three tournaments provide valuable preparation, allowing you to arrive in Paris with a good feeling of confidence.

“After all, it’s the most important clay court tournament, and that’s precisely what I’m aiming for, to reach peak form by then.

“But right now, here in Rome, I am trying to give it my all, then whatever comes out, comes out. Obviously, I am happy with how I am playing, but we are also working hard.”

Jannik Sinner’s two losses during the 2026 season so far

Sinner has lost just two matches so far during the 2026 season, both of which came at the start of his campaign.

At the Australian Open, Sinner fell to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, with the Serb ending his pursuit of a three-peat in Melbourne.

Djokovic beat Sinner in a five-set thriller lasting over four hours, and snapped a five-match losing streak in their head-to-head.

Sinner’s only other defeat came at the Qatar Open, where he was defeated by Jakub Mensik in three sets.

Since then, he has dropped two sets across four tournaments and looks simply unstoppable.
