Jannik Sinner is comfortably the world’s number one player right now with the ATP Finals in full swing.

Yesterday he defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 to make it two wins from two games in Turin.

Fritz stuck it to Sinner in the early exchanges of the match but lost his nerve at the end of both sets to lose.

After the game, Sinner admitted Fritz had impressed him on court during the repeat of the US Open final.

He now faces Alex de Minaur in the final match of the round-robin looking to win and secure a place in the semi-final.

Sinner has enjoyed a very successful 2024 on the tour.

He won his maiden Grand Slam title in Australia back in January and followed that up in New York when overcoming Fritz at the US Open.

Sinner reached the final of this event last year and after beating Fritz a remarkable statistic emerged about the Italian.

Jannik Sinner now has incredible record over players from the USA

We all love a stat and they’re often circulated on a number of things in tennis.

This one feels a little bit more light-hearted than something like first-serve percentages or amount of double faults.

One feather in the cap of Sinner this season has been his unblemished record when coming up against American stars.

He’s despatched every opponent he’s faced from the United States and seemingly loves playing those from that part of the world.

It was the second time that Sinner had beaten Fritz this year when he overcame him yesterday.

Now, the Italian will hope to overcome the rest of the field and claim another success to finish the year.

Sinner can dominate tennis in years to come

At 23-years-old, Sinner is just getting started as a top player.

Right now, he’s miles clear at the top of the world rankings and looks like an immovable object in that sense.

Sinner does seemingly love playing opposition from the United States but he’s capable of toppling players from all over the world.

Sinner is very much the man to beat right now and he could very soon become a dominant force.

He’s shared the Grand Slam titles with Carlos Alcaraz this year and that does look like an emerging rivalry.

Sinner will take some catching at the top of the world rankings, however, and he can cement his status as the best player in the world by winning the ATP Finals.

As for the American players on the tour, they might quickly be getting sick of facing Sinner given his dominant record against the Stars and Stripes participants!
