Jannik Sinner continued his phenomenal streak at ATP Masters 1000 events with his triumph in Monte-Carlo.
Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the clay-court tournament in straight sets, besting his rival 7-6, 6-4 to secure the crown.
The Italian reclaimed world number one status from the Spaniard in the process, taking the top spot for the first time since November.

Sinner has not lost at an ATP Masters 1000 competition since Shanghai last year, having emerged victorious in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami and now Monte-Carlo.

Sinner’s win over Alcaraz was his fifth ever over a defending champion at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
He has won five out of six such matches; a win percentage of 83.3%, which ranks first all-time by some distance.

According to Opta Ace, the player with the second-highest win rate versus reigning Masters champions is Rafael Nadal, who tallied 70.6.
Trailing Nadal in third is Novak Djokovic with 68.4, followed by Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter, who are tied in fourth with 60.0.

Sinner’s next chance at a Masters event will come at the Madrid Open, which gets underway on the 20th of April.
Jannik Sinner’s last loss at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament
Prior to his streak of winning four ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in a row, Sinner’s last defeat at the level came in Shanghai during the 2025 season.
There, Sinner won his first-round match versus Daniel Altmaier, but fell in his second clash at the event against Tallon Griekspoor.
Sinner wasn’t quite beaten, however, as he was forced to retire from the match with the Dutchman due to injury.
The same was true of his previous loss at a Masters event: the 2025 Cincinnati Open final against Alcaraz which resulted in a retirement before the first set ended.
The last time Sinner was overcome at a Masters tournament in a completed match was at the Italian Open in 2025, where Alcaraz battled past him in straight sets.
