Italian number one Jannik Sinner is through to the quarter-final at Wimbledon following a three-set win over Ben Shelton.
The player is enjoying an exceptional year on the circuit and his form is truly fantastic.
In January he won the Australian Open to claim his first Grand Slam and he reached the semi-final at the French Open too.
After his win over Shelton, some statistics have confirmed just how brilliant he’s been this year and he’s joined an elite group of players.

Jannik Sinner joined the big three with Wimbledon win
The world number one is a star of the future. He’s going to win multiple majors and it’d be a brave man to bet against him this year at Wimbledon.
His win over Shelton means that he’s won 42 of the 45 matches that he’s played in this year.
Only three players can boast of having done since 2000 that and it’s no surprise that the trio of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are the players Sinner has joined.
Sinner will go into the second week of Wimbledon full of confidence and he will want to live up to his billing as the world number one.
The Italian is going to be tough to stop this time around and it will be fascinating to see if he can claim another Grand Slam title next week.
Sinner is major player in the future of tennis
This is a quite remarkable statistic and the sheer brilliance of Sinner is undeniable since the turn of the year.
At 22-years-old he has bags of time on his side and he should be capable of winning a number of major tournaments.
This season he has lost twice to Carlos Alcaraz – including in the semi-final of the French Open – and once to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
His rivalry with Alcaraz looks like one that has plenty of mileage in it and they could meet again at Wimbledon.
Sinner is clearly the tour’s in-form talent at the moment and he will hope that his record can continue for a little while longer.
The youngster will face Daniil Medvedev in the next round of the competition and that will be a great test for him.
Sinner has the momentum, however, and he will simply view the Russian as another obstacle in his quest for glory.
