Jannik Sinner has named what he thinks is the best rivalry on the ATP Tour, and he is not included.

Since the iconic ‘Big 3’ battles with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have come to an end, new rivalries on the circuit have begun to emerge.

The World number one has been one of those players who has stepped to the forefront of the sport and has contested some titanic with his rivals.

The Italian is now competing at the Australian Open where he stormed into the semi-finals with an emphatic 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 win over home favourite Alex de Minaur.

Sinner will face Ben Shelton next, and should he get past the American, a showdown in the final with either Djokovic or Alexander Zverev lies ahead.

What did Jannik Sinner say about Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz’s rivalry?

Two of the ATP Tour’s most compelling rivalries Jannik Sinner against Carlos Alcaraz, and Djokovic taking on Alcaraz.

Each of these three players bring out the best in each other and have contested some of the best matches this decade.

Djokovic defeated Alcaraz to reach the Australian Open semi-finals and after defeating De Minaur Sinner was asked for his thoughts on the match, and gave the two players and their rivalry very high praise.

“It was an amazing match,” Sinner said during his on-court interview. “These kind of matches are tough to see as quarter-finals, they should be finals or semi-finals. So we all want this kind of rivalry. Carlos and Novak, this is the best moment we have in tennis at the moment.

“It was an amazing match up, some amazing rallies and this is why we also need an amazing crowd, making everything special, so let’s see what is coming this season. New players are coming, young players are coming, hopefully they are going to have some great rivalries.”

Jannik Sinner’s Australian Open title defence continues

Sinner breezed through his Australian Open quarter-final and he will play Shelton in the semi-finals.

The American defeated Lorenzo Sonego to reach the last four in Melbourne for the first time in his career.

Sinner has won four of their five meetings, including all three in 2024, and he is ready for the challenge the 15th seed will pose in Friday’s semi-final.

“We played last year, some very tough matches. He is one of the vest servers on tour, lefty, some different rotation of the ball is coming” she said.

“Hopefully I am ready and I can return as many serves as possible and then try to stay concentrated about my game, like today, I will try and stay aggressive. Hopefully it’s going to be a great match for you guys.”
