Jannik Sinner is back in Cincinnati and ready to defend his title, following a busy and successful grass season.
Sinner won his first Wimbledon title after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final, becoming the first Italian in history to emerge victorious in singles at the All England Club.
The world number one decided not to feature at the Washington Open and withdrew from the Canadian Open, which took place just two weeks after the championships in SW19.
At this point last year, Sinner went on a lengthy winning streak, triumphing at both the Cincinnati Open and the US Open.
His run came to an end, however, at an event which the 23-year-old has just confirmed he’ll be returning to later this season.

Sinner was on a 15-match winning streak heading into the China Open final in 2024, but was denied a third consecutive title by Alcaraz.
The Spaniard beat his rival in a thrilling championship match, clinching the decisive third set tiebreak to hoist the trophy.
In pursuit of reclaiming the title, which he won in 2023, Sinner has announced he’ll make his return to the Beijing tournament in September.
He said: “Hey everyone, Jannik here. I’m just very excited to come back to Beijing for the third time in a row.
“I’m very excited for that. See you all there. It’s going to be a great tournament again. Ciao Ciao.”

Then at the US Open, he dropped just two sets throughout the entire tournament, which came in his first-round bout with Mackenzie McDonald and his last-eight clash with Daniil Medvedev.

At the China Open, he once again made his way comfortably through his half of the draw and took the first set in the final against Alcaraz, but the second seed fought his way back into the match and snapped his opponent’s streak.
