Jannik Sinner will get his 2026 season underway this month, as he continues what is shaping up to be a legendary career in professional tennis.
The Italian enjoyed another dominant campaign on the ATP Tour last year, having claimed six titles, including two Grand Slams.
Sinner clinched a second Australian Open and won his first Wimbledon crown to take his major tally to four.
Ranked second in the world, behind his rival Carlos Alcaraz, the 24-year-old looks set to make more history this season.
Though there are a number of records Sinner is closing in on, there is one feat that former French Open champion Adriano Panatta claims he is ‘really thinking about’.

As per OA Sport, Panatta said: “In my opinion, Jannik has a hidden goal inside himself, which is to win the [Calendar] Grand Slam.”
The Calendar Grand Slam is when a player wins all four majors in a calendar year, which only two players in men’s tennis history have managed: Don Budge and Rod Laver.

Panatta continued: “The decision to continue with Cahill in 2026 is a sign that he’s really thinking about it.
“There’s a reason they [Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal] didn’t manage it. There were many competitors, including [Andy] Murray.
“Today, there are two of them, and this, in effect, doubles the chances. As a type of player, Sinner is better equipped than Alcaraz to win the Grand Slam because he’s more consistent and solid.
“Carlos, however, has moments when he becomes unplayable. Obviously, these are considerations that are made without considering injuries and health problems.”
When Novak Djokovic came close to the Calendar Grand Slam
Since Laver in 1969, no player has managed to achieve the Calendar Grand Slam, but in 2021, Novak Djokovic came agonisingly close.
The Serb was dominating the major scene that year and emerged victorious at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
At the US Open, Djokovic advanced to the final, where he met the second seed, Daniil Medvedev.
It was not to be, however, with Medvedev coming out on top in straight sets to secure a maiden Grand Slam title.
On the women’s side, Maureen Connolly, Margaret Court, and Steffi Graf have all won a Calendar Grand Slam.
