The seeding for the upcoming men’s tournament at the Wimbledon championships has been confirmed.

Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz enter the tournament as the first and second seeds, meaning a French Open final rematch could be on the cards, should the two advance to the championship match.

Alcaraz, who is bidding to become the fifth man in the Open Era to three-peat at Wimbledon, will be considered the heavy favourite, following his triumph at Queen’s.

World number three Alexander Zverev, home hope Jack Draper, and Stuttgart Open champion Taylor Fritz make up seeds three, four and five.

Just under a week before the tournament, Sinner, Fritz, and other ATP stars gave their predictions and picked their ‘ones to watch’ in SW19.

Speaking ahead of the championships, Sinner said: “Jack Draper is one to watch out for. He’s playing with the home crowd, and the home crowd can give you something very special.”

Fritz said: “I’m gonna go with [Alexander] Bublik. I think his game is very suited for grass.”

Big server Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard agreed with the American, saying of the Halle Open champion: “He’s a good player on grass, he won a [ATP] 500, so I think it’s going to be a good tournament for him.”

Rising Brazilian star Joao Fonseca picked Ben Shelton as his player to keep a close eye on, explaining: “He has a really big serve, a good touch, good volleys, it’s going to be really difficult.”

Alexander Bublik’s chances at Wimbledon this year

Bublik will be considered a dark horse by many at Wimbledon this year, with the Kazakh star in red-hot form at the moment.

He won the Halle Open after knocking out Sinner in the second round and defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final.

The 28-year-old has struggled over the last year and considered taking a break after Wimbledon in 2024, but he now looks to be back to his best on his preferred surface of grass.

Entering the event as the 28th seed, with a favourable draw Bublik could make a deep run in South West London.
