Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka both post messages on social media after knocking America out of the Davis Cup

Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka both helped stun 32-time champions USA to qualify for the Davis Cup Finals.

Mensik was beaten by Taylor Fritz, but he was able to avenge this defeat after beating Frances Tiafoe in the decisive rubber.

While the number two Czech player split his two matches, number one Lehecka beat both Fritz and Tiafoe to send his nation to the Davis Cup Finals.

Mensik and Lehecka were able to overcome the home American crowd, and they have both now posted messages to social media.

Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka post Instagram messages after qualifying for the Davis Cup Finals

Czechia are three-time Davis Cup champions, but they have not reached the last eight of the competition since 2016.

After Mensik and Lehecka helped their nation qualify for the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, they both posted messages on social media.

Mensik, who won the decisive rubber, wrote on Instagram, “So much heart, so much fight. Couldn’t be prouder of this team. Final 8 awaits in Bologna!!!”

While team MVP Lehecka referenced the fact that many people had counted Czechia against USA.

The world number 16 wrote, “They said, ‘It’s not possible.’ We answered, ‘No — it’s necessary´.”

The lineup for the Davis Cup Finals ‘Final 8’ has now been confirmed, with Czechia part of a familiar theme.

Six of the seven winners of the qualifier ties were playing away from home, as they now join Italy for the Davis Cup Finals later this year in Bologna.

Seven of the eight teams remaining are European, with Argentina the only nation outside of Europe to qualify.

Six of these nations are also former champions of the Davis Cup, with only Belgium and Austria looking to win their maiden titles this year.

Italy will be looking to make more history this year, as Jannik Sinner looks to lead his nation to a third consecutive title.

The last nation to win three Davis Cup titles in a row was USA, who won five consecutive trophies between 1968 and 1972.

Bologna will host the Davis Cup Finals ‘Final 8’ later this year between November, 18-23.
