Iva Jovic continues to show her admiration towards her idol Novak Djokovic.

Jovic met Djokovic for the first time at Wimbledon last year, with the American, who has Serbian parents, building a relationship with the 24-time Grand Slam champion since then.

This was clear at the Australian Open this year, as Djokovic gave Jovic advice before she reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal in Melbourne.

Ahead of making her debut at the Charleston Open, Jovic has explained what she finds most impressive about Djokovic.

Iva Jovic says what she thinks is ‘the most impressive thing’ about Novak Djokovic

Speaking to media ahead of her first match at the WTA 500 tournament, Jovic revealed that she finds what Djokovic does off the match court ‘the most impressive’, and she has tried to copy some of his routines.

“What he’s done on the court, people probably thought impossible, right? It’s unbelievable what he’s done as a player,” Jovic said about Djokovic, as reported on the official Charleston Open tournament website.

“But the most impressive thing to me is just him as a person, everything he does that makes him a good tennis player.

“A lot of it is off the court. He’s doing a lot of things to calm his mind, to be a better, more well-rounded person. More than in those moments on the court, that’s what makes him better, because there are such fine margins in tennis.

“He’s doing all these things that I think a lot of players don’t even know about. He meditates a lot. He just knows himself very well.

“I’ve started to make some changes in my own routines, as well, trying to incorporate as much as I can from people like Novak. Obviously, you just need to find what works well for you.”

Iva Jovic hopes to speak to ‘special’ Andre Agassi in the future

Djokovic is not the only multiple-time Grand Slam champion that Jovic looks up to, as she has also spoken about Andre Agassi ahead of the Charleston Open.

Agassi retired from tennis in 2006, which is one year before 18-year-old Jovic was born, and she has explained why she would like to have a conversation with the eight-time Grand Slam champion.

“Andre is a special guy, and I think the way he talks about tennis is fascinating,” said Jovic. “It’s obvious that he’s a very, very smart individual.

“It’s very calculated, like a chess match the way he speaks about the game. It’s very cool. Hopefully, I can speak with him in the future.”
