Jannik Sinner has helped lead the charge for the resurgence of Italian tennis in recent years.

Sinner is the current world number one, the only Italian singles player to reach the summit of the rankings, and has won four Grand Slam titles already in his career.

He is not the only player from his nation to showcase impressive results, with Jasmine Paolini, Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli also creating success for their nation in recent years.

Italy had already been confirmed to have a grass court tournament coming to Milan in 2028, and now another event is set to return to the nation, where Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are former champions.

Next Gen ATP Finals are reportedly returning to Italy

The Next Gen ATP Finals have taken place annually since 2017, other than in 2020 when the tournament was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, featuring the top young players on the ATP Tour.

Originally, the year-end tournament was held in Milan, which played host until 2022, before the event moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The WTA Finals have recently confirmed they are relocating from Saudi Arabia, and the same is happening to the Next Gen ATP Finals.

After hosting the event in Jeddah last year, the Next Gen ATP Finals will be moving to a new location in 2026.

Reported by tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg, the Next Gen ATP Finals are now confirmed to be coming back to Italy.

It is currently unclear as to where in Italy the event will be happening, with an official announcement expected soon, but more and more tennis events are moving to the Southern European nation.

Italy already has a Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup Finals, and is now set to add the Next Gen ATP Finals and a grass court tournament in Milan in 2028.
