Carlos Alcaraz has some big decisions to make after parting ways with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Alcaraz sent an emotional message to Ferrero, after working together for seven years before their shock split.
There has been a lot of speculation over the reason for this split, with Ferrero saying he wanted to continue with Alcaraz.
Tennis fans have been shocked by Alcaraz’s decision, and it has now been confirmed if he will hire a new coach to replace Ferrero.

Will Carlos Alcaraz replace Juan Carlos Ferrero as his main coach?
Ferrero was not able to be present at all of Alcaraz’s tournaments in 2025, with his other coach Samuel Lopez often taking to the helm.
Despite having an experienced coach like Lopez in his setup, it has now been reported by Spanish outlet El Partidazo de COPE that while he will remain on the team, he will not be the main coach.
Lopez is expected to travel with Alcaraz to Australia, but in the meantime they will be looking for a replacement for Ferrero.
Why do you think Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero split?
The Spanish radio station also reported that the issue for Alcaraz and Ferrero was partly related to money, but he is expected to keep the rest of his team for the 2026 season.
Alcaraz is alleged to have already reached out to some potential coaches, with one, who has not been named, said to have already rejected the world number one’s request.

Carlos Alcaraz’s record in 2025 with Samuel Lopez as his coach
Lopez joined Alcaraz’s team in December 2024, after working with former top 10 player Pablo Carreno Busta for nine years.
While Ferrero has remained as the main coach for the entirety of the 2025 season, there were also four tournaments where Lopez was the only coach present.

This saw Alcaraz win three of his eight titles in 2025, including two Masters 1000 tournaments in Monte Carlo and Cincinnati.
| Tournament where Alcaraz only had Samuel Lopez in 2025 | Alcaraz’s result |
| Qatar Open | Quarterfinal |
| Monte Carlo Masters | Won the title |
| Cincinnati Masters | Won the title |
| Japan Open | Won the title |
As a result of these successes, Lopez was also the winner of the ATP Coach of the Year award alongside Ferrero.
However, it still appears that Lopez will be taking a back seat in Alcaraz’s setup, as he continues the search for a new main coach.
