Iga Swiatek looks to be in the mood for another Grand Slam title after her latest performance against Anna Kalinskaya.
The Polish player has been the tour’s form player lately, and she will be eyeing another Grand Slam title at the US Open next week.
Swiatek beat Kalinskaya 7-6, 6-4 in a match where she was on top for large parts and next up it’s 13th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
There were some weird situations for Wimbledon champion Swiatek in her latest match, however, and after progressing to the last 16, she has been discussing something very unusual.

Iga Swiatek shares what was unusual about her latest match
Swiatek is renowned for having a shrewd serve, but it did desert her slightly in the game against Kalinskaya.
After the match, she was quizzed on the aspects of the game that led to the victory at Flushing Meadows, conceding that her serve was somewhat unusual.
She said in her press conference: “Usually it is, but I don’t know why I kind of haven’t noticed today.
“I already got asked about this and yeah, I didn’t notice that my serve percentage was low. Sometimes I felt like I was maybe going too much for it, like maybe risking it in terms of picking the spots.
“So I guess I tried to work on that and on one hand play it more safe, but on the other hand, like you can’t do that because your opponent will use it. So I tried to balance that. I had no idea what the percentage was, and maybe that’s good.”
Swiatek could go all the way at the US Open
It’s quite scary what Swiatek could achieve in the game of tennis, and with six majors already under her belt, she could comfortably reach double figures in the coming years.
Swiatek is only 24 and that means she has bags of time on her side and isn’t really anywhere near her peak at the moment either.
| Iga Swiatek Stats vs Anna Kalinskaya | Total |
| Aces | 4 |
| Double Faults | 5 |
| Win % on First Serve | 76% |
| Win % on Second Serve | 58% |
The first serve was down a little bit in her last 32 match, but it’s not something for her to dwell on ahead of her last 16 match, which will take place tomorrow.
Swiatek is a dangerous player whilst she remains in the draw and it will be fascinating to see whether or not she can claim the US Open title this year.
