Iga Swiatek has crashed out of the WTA Finals after being beaten by Amanda Anisimova.
Swiatek comfortably beat Madison Keys in her opening match at the WTA Finals, the tournament she won for the first time two years ago.
However, the world number two faced a setback in her following match, as Elena Rybakina beat Swiatek for the first time this year.
This set up a must win match for the Pole, in a rematch of the Wimbledon final where Swiatek beat Anisimova 6-0 6-0, but it was a very different scoreline on this occasion.

Iga Swiatek loses back-to-back matches from a set up for the first time
Swiatek lost from a set up against Rybakina, and that was the first time that has happened since January this year.
However, things have been taken to another level after Swiatek was beaten by Anisimova, 6(3)-7 6-4 6-2, to seal her exit from the year-end WTA Finals.
This is the first time that Swiatek has ever lost consecutive matches from a set up in her entire career.
It is also the second year in a row where Swiatek has failed to advance from her round-robin group, both times when the tournament has been held in Riyadh.
After beating Swiatek, both Anisimova and Rybakina will advance from the Serena Williams Group, as they now await their semifinal opponents.
Iga Swiatek has four-year streak come to an end following defeat to Amanda Anisimova
That is not the only record that has come to an end for Swiatek, as it is the first time she has lost two matches in a row since 2021.
This also occurred at the same tournament, as Swiatek lost to Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka at the WTA Finals that were held in Guadalajara.
While many players will head home after the WTA Finals to recover from the busy season, Swiatek will now return to Poland for a different reason.
Swiatek has signed up for the Billie Jean King Cup play-offs, as Poland look to return to the World Group once again.
Poland will compete against both Romania and New Zealand in Gorzow Wielkopolski, with the ties taking place between November 14-16.
