Iga Swiatek has powered into her second Australian Open semi-final after beating Emma Navarro in straight sets.

Swiatek continued her dominant run in Melbourne after dropping just four games against the eighth seeded American.

However, Swiatek was caught up in controversy after hitting a ball that appeared to bounce twice and Navarro was unable to use a video review.

Since the United Cup, where Swiatek lost to Coco Gauff in the final, she has only dropped 13 games in her five matches at the Australian Open.

This means that Swiatek is now one match away from her first Australian Open final, but she will have to beat another American in Madison Keys to get there.

Iga Swiatek gives her verdict on Madison Keys ahead of Australian Open semi-final

Keys came from a set down to beat Elina Svitolina to continue her impressive start to the 2025 season after winning the title in Adelaide.

The 29-year-old hit 49 winners against Svitolina, with Keys wanting to add more aggressiveness to her already powerful game.

This is something that Swiatek touched upon when asked about how she will prepare for the former US Open finalist.

“You know, I wasn’t really looking forward before, so now that I know my opponent, you know, we’ll do the work with Wim [Fissette] and prepare the tactics,” Swiatek said in her post-match press conference. “Obviously, you know, she likes to also play intense and pretty fast. You know, and she’s using her powers, especially on a faster hard court.

“I need to be ready for that and be proactive and also good in defense. I guess in semis if you play against any opponent, they deserve to be there, so it’s going to be tough no matter what, no matter who is on the other side of the net. So I’ll do my best.”

Who leads the head-to-head between Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys?

The Australian Open semi-final between Swiatek and Keys will be their sixth and biggest meeting to date.

Swiatek has a comfortable lead over the American in their head-to-head with four victories, most recently coming on the clay of Rome last year.

However, on hard courts their is nothing between them, with both Swiatek and Keys getting one victory on the surface that they are playing on in Melbourne.
