Iga Swiatek will have big plans to get back to winning ways at Grand Slams as soon as possible, having lost in the Australian Open semi-finals.

Swiatek can shine at the French Open, which represents the perfect major tournament for such a recovery.

World number two Swiatek has won the last three titles at Roland Garros, with four of her five Grand Slam titles having come in Paris.

Swiatek has built a rivalry with Aryna Sabalenka, with their latter particularly shining on hard courts as the former continues to enjoy success on clay.

And the Pole will now be looking for a 23rd WTA title sooner rather than later, with Wim Fissette hired as her coach in a bid to do exactly that.

Iga Swiatek ‘happy’ with Wim Fissette as pair get along off court

Fissette, who has previously worked with the likes of Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka, joined Swiatek last October.

And the WTA star has now provided an update on how their partnership has progressed since his appointment.

“Working with Wim has been pretty refreshing, I think any change is like that,” said Swiatek, as per TennisONE.

“I’m happy that we are getting along well and for sure he has some good ideas for my tennis and for my game.

“So we’re using as much time as possible between the tournaments to implement that. But the main goal anyway in tennis is adjusting to the conditions that we have on the tour, so mostly some practices are just based on that.

“But overall I feel happy with the start of our collaboration, it’s been pretty positive, and off the court we’re getting along really well as well, so I like it.”

Wim Fissette seeks Iga Swiatek success after Naomi Osaka Grand Slams

Having a positive relationship with coaches is hugely important for any player, and it seems that the likes of Swiatek and Sabalenka can make such a claim.

World number three Coco Gauff meanwhile has enjoyed huge success under Matt Daly, who replaced Brad Gilbert after the 2024 US Open.

She endured a disappointing title defence in New York, but recovered superbly to win the China Open and the WTA Finals.

Fissette will now be aiming for similar success with Swiatek, with WTA icons Kim Clijsters, Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka also among his former players coached.

The Belgian has a fantastic track record, but Swiatek will be hoping that he is only getting started when it comes to silverware.

Osaka won the 2020 US Open and 2021 Australian Open titles under Fissette, who joined Swiatek’s team just over a month after splitting with the Japanese star.
