Carlos Alcaraz has just completed the career Grand Slam after beating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final.

Alcaraz beat Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 at Melbourne Park’s Rod Laver Arena to become the youngest male career Grand Slam champion.

The Spaniard battled past Serbian legend Djokovic, who was chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title, after three hours and two minutes.

Australian Open champion Alcaraz is now a seven-time Grand Slam champion at the age of 22, having won each of the other three major tournaments twice each.

Who finishes their career on more majors – Alcaraz or Djokovic?

Iga Swiatek congratulates Carlos Alcaraz on career Grand Slam

Alcaraz has now received a message of congratulations from his fellow player Iga Swiatek, who shared an image of the Spaniard on court on her Instagram story.

The Pole, who lost in the Australian Open quarterfinals to eventual champion Elena Rybakina, wrote: “Congrats Carlos Alcaraz. What an extraordinary achievement,” with clapping and muscle emojis and the hashtag “Career GS.”

Swiatek incidentally is just one title away from following suit, also needing Australian Open success to clinch the career Grand Slam.

And back on the ATP Tour, Jannik Sinner is also one win away, although he just requires French Open glory to complete the set.

Like the Spaniard and the Pole, the legendary Swiss figure also played at the Australian Open, losing to Taylor Fritz in round three.

He has waved farewell to the Grand Slam, having just started his final season on the ATP Tour before his retirement.

Alcaraz meanwhile is seemingly only just getting started, although he has already achieved tennis greatness despite his youth.
