Iga Swiatek is in the form of her life, with the Pole undoubtedly deserving of her WTA number one spot.
The 23-year-old is 45 for four in 2024 so far, with five titles having already gone her way, including the French Open.
Remarkably, the year began in disastrous circumstances, with Swiatek suffering a shock third-round exit at the Australian Open.
Making the defeat even more incomprehensible was the fact that it came against 19-year-old Linda Noskova, with the Czech teenager ranked 50th in the world.
That very surprising loss perhaps awoke something inside Swiatek, who has been unstoppable on the court since then.

There are, of course, several factors behind her form, although Andy Roddick has identified her improved backhand as a major reason for her dominance.
Fellow women’s ace Emma Raducanu meanwhile has taken inspiration from Swiatek’s serve from their meetings on the court over the years.
The world number one will be eyeing further silverware at Wimbledon, but she has taken a very quick break from tennis to enjoy Taylor Swift’s concert at Anfield, which was part of her Era’s Tour.
Posting a photo of herself with a message of congratulations from Swift, Swiatek wrote on X: “I’m dead. Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing Taylor Swift.”
How far can Iga Swiatek go at Wimbledon?
Swiatek already has five Grand Slam titles to her name, having just clinched her third successive French Open title and fourth overall.
The 2022 US Open also went her way, but the Pole is yet to taste success at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon.
The latter is now next up in the major calendar, a tournament in which last year’s quarter-final spot is her best finish.
The world number one was knocked out by Elina Svitolina, with the Ukrainian then losing to eventual champion Marketa Vondrousova in the semis.
But she is a different animal this time around, with Swiatek looking very likely to clinch her first Wimbledon title later this summer given her form on the court.
The London-based competition gets underway at the beginning of July, and the Pole will be full of confidence before her opening game.
