Iga Swiatek was knocked out of the Australian Open at the quarterfinal stage.
Swiatek stated that completing the Career Slam was a big goal for her this year, with the Australian Open the only major tournament she is yet to win.
However, this goal will have to be put on hold for at least another year, as Swiatek was beaten by Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open quarterfinals.
Following her exit from the Australian Open, Swiatek has posted a statement on social media to reflect on the first major tournament of the year.

Rybakina beat Swiatek, 7-5 6-1, to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open for the first time since she lost in the 2023 final.
This now sets their head-to-head level at six wins apiece, and Swiatek has now reflected on her defeat in a social media post.
While Swiatek admitted she is ‘not satisfied’ with the result, she appears to have taken something from her defeat to Rybakina.
Swiatek wrote on Instagram, “Thank you, Melbourne! It’s been such a pleasure to be back in Australia, and I can’t wait to return next year.
“As for today’s match, I’m not satisfied with the result, but I’m moving forward with some important lessons learned. I know what to focus on and will keep putting in the work. See you soon!”

What is next for Iga Swiatek after her Australian Open exit?
Following her exit from the Australian Open, Swiatek is scheduled to have just over a week until her next tournament.
Swiatek is set to head to the Middle East for tournaments in Doha and Dubai, but she has suggested that may not actually be the case.
During her post-match press conference after her defeat to Rybakina, Swiatek disagreed with comments Aryna Sabalenka had made about the schedule, but suggested that she could miss some WTA 1000 tournaments.
Swiatek has previously been outspoken against the schedule, and it is not yet clear if she actually plans to compete in Doha and Dubai.

The Middle East has previously been a successful part of the year for Swiatek, who has won the Qatar Open three times in her career.
However, the Dubai Tennis Championships is one of only three WTA 1000 tournaments Swiatek is yet to win.
